12 tags of Christmas 4

I loved the frosty look of Tim’s fourth tag and the combination of Rock Candy Crackle Paint and Distress Stains is a favourite of mine (I used it on this card and on the cover of this altered book). I ended up doing two tags. Here's the first one:

On the first tag I die cut the lamppost and the snowflake from grungeboard which had first been painted silver. After the crackle dried, I inked it with Black Soot Distress Stain. It is so much easier to ink crackles with Stain than with ordinary inks. The lamp was backed with architectural paper, which almost looked like a lamp and then a generous amount of Glossy Accents was poured inside. Loved the result. The background was done the same way as Tim’s, using Picket Fence, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and Broken China Distress Stains on my craft sheet. The tag was misted and repeatedly dragged through the ink until I was happy with the result. The flourish was stamped with Picked Fence stain, the snowflakes with Stormy Sky stain, and the music with Jenni Bowlin Spice Tin. I die cut a border from packaging and painted it roughly with silver paint. The snowflakes were painted white. I found an old metallic button and used it together with a clear button, with tulle threaded through.

Here’s the second tag:

Grungboard was painted white and the tattered flower was die cut from it. Then I placed the little snowflake inside the flower and cut out the centre. After the crackle paint dried, the flower and snowflake were inked with Distress Stain Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and Broken China. The flower was backed with music paper and the snowflake cut out was filled with Glossy Accents. The background was done the same way as the first tag. Snowflakes were die cut from packaging and painted with white paint. I also added three clear buttons to the tag.

A close up of the flower:

These tags have some of my favourite elements, ever since I was a child I loved clear things – the packing die cuts, the Rock Candy crackle paint, the Glossy Accents and the clear buttons.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
